An exploration of time, memory, and the quiet tension between presence and absence.
Lee Jaffe (b. 1950, New York) is an American artist, photographer, filmmaker, and musician whose multidisciplinary practice engages visual art, sound, and cultural history. Emerging from the downtown New York scene of the late 1960s and 1970s, Jaffe created an intimate photographic record of a transformative era.
In Jamaica, he produced seminal images of Bob Marley, while in New York he documented and co-developed conceptual works with Jean-Michel Basquiat during the formative years of the downtown art movement. His work stands as a primary visual document of intersecting cultural revolutions in contemporary art and music.
Jaffe's work has been exhibited internationally and is held in major public and private collections.
